New City Gas

Located in the heart of Griffintown, New City Gas is only a short walk from Downtown Montreal and is surrounded by numerous hotels, easy access to public transport, local restaurants and many other key advantages.

Dating back to 1859, the building was used for a long time to provide lighting to Montreal’s streets by converting coal into gas. Recently, the heritage site was renovated into a multifunctional event space, with over 40,000 square feet on two floors. The area has been uniquely designed to encompass a combination of historic character and contemporary design, New City Gas’ impressive roofs and stone masonry remain a strong and evocative presence in the urban landscape.

how to

Get To SAF Talk

New City Gas is located at 950 Rue Ottawa in Griffintown, Montreal. The main entrance is located at the intersection of Dalhousie and Ottawa Streets. Whether it be by car, public transportation or even bike, getting to SAF Talk is simple. We've outlined a few of the most effective options to get to the event on time.

Both the buses 35 and 61, driving through different parts of downtown, can drop you off at about 5-minute walk from the event once you get off at Wellington/Queen. Alternatively, the event is only a 10-minute walk from metro Bonaventure on the orange line.

BIXI is a public bicycle sharing system serving Montréal, it is a cheap non-polluting alternative and the service stations are found every few blocks. Be sure to look at their map to find the best areas to pick-up and drop-off your bike. The closest BIXI station to the event is only 200m away!

There are two Indigo parking lots located a few blocks on either side of New City Gas. Finding free parking spaces may prove difficult, so if you are planning to drive, we recommend locating one of these parking lots prior. As we are a ecofriendly event, we strongly recommend carpooling in order to minimise our environmental impact.

If you’re arriving by plane at the Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, the 747 bus line runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, between Montréal-Trudeau Airport and downtown Montréal, a single bus ticket will cost you $3.50. Alternatively, Taxi rates are fixed at $40 for transportation Downtown.
